Whilst on patrol in NW10, we came across a male living in a tent in the Tubbs Road Pocket area before moving on to several properties that had been reported to us due to concerns regarding cuckooing and suspected drug dealing.

Cuckooing is a form of exploitation where criminals take over the home of a vulnerable person and use it for criminal activities, such as drug dealing, storing drugs or weapons, or other offences.

People often targeted include those who may be:

Elderly

Living alone

Experiencing mental health issues

Dependent on drugs or alcohol

Having learning disabilities

Socially isolated

Signs of possible cuckooing can include:

An increase in visitors at unusual hours

Signs of drug use or anti-social behaviour at a property

The occupant appearing fearful, withdrawn, or controlled by others

Unknown people regularly coming and going from the address

Damage to the property or concerns from neighbours
